Knoxie Crit #1

The first criterium race in the Knoxie Crit 2012 Series at Chilhowee Park seemed to be a hit with 29 racers and a bunch of spectators showing up. Sean Eidemiller won the C Race; Susie Isaac won the Women's C Race; Marco Pigni won the B Race; Missy Petty got the B Race Womens Bonus (and got 4th overall -- good job!); and Brad Spears, fueled with birthday cake, won the A race.

Road rash and lessons learned

We all tend to think of cars as being our most dangerous potential for injury (or worse) but last Tuesday was a stark reminder how dangerous this sport is even when cars aren't involved. We were going down Yarnell near 30mph in a tight double pace line. My rear tire suddenly went flat.

Saturday, Feb 4 Ride from CBC

Morning rain and the threat of more rain to come held the attendance down to three riders: Marco Pigni, Michael Twigg and I.  We rode about 50 miles on wet roads, but did not see any more rain. We gained a little separation on the next nearest competitior, Brian Mahoney, for the Winter Training Series Points Competition.

Record Turnout

On Sunday, February 5, there were 24 riders that started the Winter Training Series ride from Pelissippi State Community College at Noon.  Temperatures were in the upper 50s and the skies were partly to mostly cloudy.  The route was generally Dutch Valley to Lake City, then across the Clinch River via some idyllically named valley road, then back across to Lake City ov

The Winter Training Series ride from Pelissippi State Community College at Noon on January 22 had a record turnout of 18 riders. The group did roughly 100 kilometers out past Melton Hill Dam, over the 95 Hills to TN58 and towards Kingston on Lawnville Road. We came back over Ladd Landing, Sugar Grove Valley and Blair Road; then repeated the 58/95/Buttermilk return.
